PHC Statement to the Weordeip incident July 1st, 2023

Back when PHC's events were still being held in the Tailbass Cave, Weordeip would frequently spawn the Vibe Car in the event space. While PHC never condoned or advocated for them doing this, we internally decided to tolerate it for the time being, as the Tailbass Cave is quite large and it remained mostly out of the way of our attendees.

With PHC's move to the new custom-made space last March, though, we spoke about the Vibe Car in a meeting before the map release event. We agreed on not allowing it anymore, on the basis that the new space was far too small for a prop of the Vibe Car's size to remain unobtrusive, and that we had already received a number of attendee complaints about the car while we had been tolerating its presence.

On the night of the March map release event, Weordeip spawned the Vibe Car in the dance hall, prompting our security officer, Rekaron, to approach them.
Rekaron then requested that Weordeip despawn the car, in accordance with PHC's recent decision.
Weordeip refused and began to argue, getting progressively more rude toward Rekaron as the discussion went on; Rekaron then asked Shade, PHC's director, to support him and help sort things out with Weordeip.
Shade made the same request of Weordeip; asking them to despawn the car, offering that they could move it to the lobby for the duration of the event, and tacking on that PHC would be willing to meet with them the next day (after everyone had sobered up) to discuss a more permanent spot for the Vibe Car moving forward.

During this discussion, Weordeip claimed to have gotten permission from DJ Manager Dutchfox to spawn the car. Dutchfox confirmed that Weordeip indeed asked for permission, but Dutchfox had denied them.

Nevertheless, Weordeip continued to insist that they be allowed to display the car in the place and manner that they saw fit. Shade again refused, and without any further protest, Weordeip despawned the car, shortly before leaving the event entirely. (Note that this was not the staff's intention; Weordeip was welcome to stay, the Vibe Car just needed to be moved somewhere else.) Several later encounters with Weordeip displaying the Vibe Car at other events confirmed that all mention of PHC was completely stripped from the car, and Weordeip appeared to stop attending PHC entirely.

Weordeip completely fell off of PHC's radar until this July's event. Partway through the night, several staff spotted the Vibe Car in the dance hall once again; this time being worn as an avatar by a bot-controlled VRChat account (username "Vibe Car") instead of Weordeip themselves. Shade and the security team attempted to track down Weordeip and request he despawn the car, but were unable to do so. Shade and the security staff felt that what Weordeip had done was a clear violation of rule #5 ("Follow the instructions staff or team members give you"), as they had spoken to Weordeip on this subject prior and had made it clear that they were not allowed to spawn the Vibe Car in the dance hall. Shade issued Weordeip's bot a warning through VRChat’s instance moderation tool in an attempt to alert them that the Vibe Car was still disallowed at PHC, but as nothing changed after the warning was sent, Shade proceeded to kick the bot from the event instance it was occupying.

Later in the night, Shade was approached by Engineer Isaac and another person in separate attempts to discuss what happened, which quickly revealed that misinformation about the events that had transpired and the reasoning behind PHC's decisions had been spread - Weordeip had claimed that, back in March, we had refused any compromises or attempts to have later discussions about the Vibe Car after the event was over, and that instead, we had kicked them from the map release event (rather than Weordeip leaving of their own volition). There also appeared to be a misunderstanding of why exactly PHC had disallowed the Vibe Car in the first place, as several statements were made about the performance rating of the Vibe Car avatar, despite PHC's decision coming down to a lack of physical space in the dance hall and a series of attendee complaints about the Vibe Car's presence.
